Mitsubishi Outlander 2016 – Specifications, Price and Review

2016 is a year of hope for the Japanese carmaker, Mitsubishi.  With that in mind, they focus their vision and hard work in making impressively better cars—both in design and drive.

Despite the fact that it has been in the market for quite a long time, the Outlander moniker had not been that of a money-maker.  So to signal the beginning of their line up revamp, Outlander received its makeover.  2016 Mitsubishi Outlander, after at least 100 changes, has come out to be a compact crossover for this year.

Exterior and Interior

The framework looks more likely the same, but that’s what your eyes give you.  It has been lengthened by 1.5 inches in every dimension and its creator omitted the clear taillights.  They were replaced by more striking red LED set.  For the fascia, the surfaces were coated with reflective plastic combined with the piano black grille.  The result:  a much fiercer and dramatic look for our favorite compact crossover.

2016 Outlander also comes in 7 passenger configurations, with 3 rows of seating arrangement.  Excitingly, the second row sports an auto flip-fold seat cushion with folding headrests. Ah, the real comfort for someone who isn’t driving.  Furthermore, the second row allows 37.3 inches of legroom while the third one gives a mere 28.2 inches legroom.  Asked why the third has been confined with the said dimension, Mitsubishi claims that the last row is for emergency use only.

Engine, Transmission and Price

Inside, it’s still available with an option of front or all-drive system and 2.4L four cylinder engine.  It can summon an up to 166 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft of torque.  To top those, Mitsubishi installed a new continuously variable transmission (CVT) to replace last year model’s automatic.  It can now sprint by one sec less, from 0-60 MPH.

Moreover, Outlander is also made available with a 3.0L V6 engine option which can produce 224 horsepower and 215 lb.-ft. of torque.  It works with 6-speed automatic transmission but is available for an all-wheel drive only.
