Starting next year, the 5.5-liter V-8 engine which is present in Mercedes SLK-class will be discontinued in the succeeding classes. Just as it was noticed in 2017 AMG SLC43, the V-8 is replaced by a 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V-6, an engine that is also noticed as a primary feature of C450 and GLE450 AMG Sport models. These two cars, as additional information, will be renamed as AMG C43 and GLE43 in order to Follow the SLC series in the AMG line.
Under the Hood
Featuring a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine, this convertible runs at 352-horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. Experts point out that it is down by 53-horsepower and 14e lb-ft compared to the V-8’s performance but the company is quick to defend that this one is only 0.1 second behind the SLK55 when it comes to 0-6- mph acceleration. The most noticeable feature when it comes to this engine is its 9-speed automatic transmission, which is definitely tuned for faster shifts than in regular Benzes. Along with the AMG handling package, its 155 mph top speed can go up to 174 mph, though these numbers doesn’t really matter, especially if you’re driving in public roads.
Exterior
The head and tail lamps now come in new shapes that definitely look flattering in a bright red-colored body. The front fascia, on the other hand, brings gloss black and silver finish on the splitter and air intakes.
