Just two days ago, we have read lots of internet leaks concerning the next-generation Maruti Suzuki possibly being manufactured in India. And just yesterday, the next year’s Maruti Suzuki, the 2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift has been spotted during its testing inside Suzuki’s branch in Germany. Actually seen having a camouflage design, the 2017 Swift is rumored to be a model that is ready for production, once orders start coming in. it is also rumored that the 2017 Swift will make its first appearance in this year’s Paris Motor Show, which is going to be held in the second week of October.
A few weeks before, images of the next-gen Suzuki had leaked on different car websites. This gave us the idea of the car having a bolder design compared to the previous ones. And seeing it first-hand, we are amazed to say that Suzuki’s car for the next year looks different when it comes to features and design lines.
Body
The next-generation Swift had undergone a complete re-design. The hexagonal grille is comparably larger than the previous one along with the fact that the headlamp has a new design and contains signal lights. It’s also noticeable that the next-gen Swift has a more sport-looking bumper, larger air intake vents and significantly round fog lights.
Looking on both sides, the next-gen Swift’s design somehow looks a little similar to the previous one. However, it’s noticeable that the roof is curvier and the prominent lines make it look broader. As a whole, it looks beefier and stockier.
It is revealed that the next-gen Swift is lighter than the previous one due to the fact that lighter metals are used along with some helping of industrial-grade plastic on the interior part. This is because of the whole new platform architecture that is said to displace both Ignis and Baleno platforms in both design and performance.
As of now, it is said that the next-gen Swift will offer three different engine choices, namely: 1-liter, 3-cylinder BoosterJet Engine, a 1.2-lite K-Series Engine and a 1.4-liter BoosterJet, 4-cylinder Petrol Engine. The third one is also revealed to be produced only for 2018 Swift models. We are not yet sure whether the company will change its mind and will offer diesel engine versions at a later date. In addition to that, the engines are said to have an automatic gearbox, though we are not sure whether it’s going to be a six or seven-speed automatic or CVT.
