Certain foods are great to taste! People prefer having such food whenever they can as it becomes a special delicacy. But when it comes to diet and drugs then one needs to be careful of what they are eating. Because, wrong combination or pairing can result in really bad disasters. One must be very careful when taking over-the-counter drugs as the individual should know what may be the after effects of the drug and what food he or she can eat if they are taking the particular drug for any particular reason. This knowledge is of extreme importance.
The combination of lime and cough medicine is not the right thing to do. Because limes and oranges may break down the statins and other drugs which also includes cough suppressants. If this happens then the medications build up in your bloodstream and there might be risk of side effects. Dairy products and antibiotics are bad pairing. If you are into antibiotics then avoid yogurt, milk and cheese 2 hours before and after taking the pill. If you don’t then these products will prevent the absorption of antibiotics. If you are taking medication for allergies then it is important to avoid apple juice. The combination of apple juice and allergy medication is a big NO. If the intake of apple juice is there then the allergy medication will not have the proper effect that it should. Another such bad pairing is alcohol and pain and cold medicine. If there is no gap between the two then there is not going to be any effect of the medicine. There should be a minimum 6 hours gap between drinking alcohol and taking the medicine for your specific problem. Only then can anyone see an improvement in the pain and cold.
The best thing to do is consult a doctor and ask very clearly as to what are the things that should be avoided if taking a particular medicine. If anyone is buying over-the-counter drug then it is best to ask the seller or one should have a good knowledge about the do’s and don’ts of a particular medicine.
