After a year of Xiaomi Mi4, the Chinese equivalent of Apple has chosen not to follow up its flagship with a successor. Instead, they released two upgraded flavors namely, Mi 4i and Mi 4c.
However, the long wait may be over since the alleged Xioami Gemini (a.k.a Mi5) finally appeared in Geekbench listing. And records show that the long-awaited successor houses the latest Qualcomm chipset wonder that is the Snapdragon 820 SoC (coded as msm8996).
Further reports show that Mi5 garnered 2,140 points in the single-core test which screams competition against Apple’s A9 chip that scored approximately 2,500. Tested for multi-cores, on the other hand, proves less than impressive. But who cares about the digits since Gemini or Mi5 will be housing the latest Snapdragon 820 which should be enough to satisfy prospective buyers and Xiaomi enthusiasts.
Meanwhile, alleged hardware and software include a 5.2-inch screen with 1440p resolution, quadcore processor clocked at 1.6GHz, 3GB RAM and the latest Android Marshmallow OS. There’s also a great possibility that there won’t be a slot for external storage expansion and that the juicer would be the non-replaceable kind.
We are still waiting for further updates but Gemini is expected to be launched within this month (November, 2015) with a price tag much cheaper than those of its rivals.
