Samsung has released their second version of their 2015 flagship in the body of S6 Edge. The Korean giant’s release of their second flagship is no long surprising as this happened already during the 2014 IFA when they unveiled the Galaxy Note 4 and its twin sister, the Galaxy Note Edge. With this same strategy, Samsung has now released the Edge version of their S6.
As we can see, the slim metal of the bezel that covers the length of S6 Edge’s lining declares its manufacturer’s discard of the plastic component and is replaced by the Corning Gorilla Glass 4. While the model sports almost the same physical features of its older sister, one factor has set an edge over it—the dual curve display that is put at the very front of this handset. However, the display serves more as an aesthetic component than a functional one.
We may be asking if Samsung has also ditched the fingerprint sensor it usually incorporates for the value of security protection. Alas, but the answer is still a ‘no-no.’ Even though we found the previous sensor disturbing, we are glad that the frustrating process has been scratched with the new sensor akin to Apple’s Touch ID sensor. With just a single, gentle press, we can open our handset in a blink of an eye.
Other features include the 5.10-inch Super AMOLED display with the capacity of 577ppi density. Running in the latest Google Lollipop, 3GB RAM and [its] very own Exynos 7420 with 8-core CPU clocking at 2.1 GHz, Galaxy S6 Edge is worth the hundred bucks you can spend. It is further equipped with 16MP primary and 5MP selfie cameras.
Expected price for the different variants of 32GB, 64GB and 128GB (yes, just expected since there’s no official release of the amount yet, are $849, $949 and $1049 respectively. There’s no definite release date yet, but pre-orders are available at present.
