We can remember Huawei’s TalkBand B2, the second generation fitness tracker turns Bluetooth headset, during MWC 2015 event last March. While the wearable looks impressive enough to captivate the watchful interest of the practical fitness enthusiasts, it still failed to captivate their hearts.
Just months since its presentation during Mobile World Conference, TalkBand B2 comes back with the joint force of JawBone. Let’s face the reality—Huawei is not currently a strong force in the line of fitness devices. On the other hand, Jawbone is an established name under that category. Their joint venture means solidifying TalkBand B2’s future in getting the respect of the fitness crowd, quite a remarkable move we must say.
TalkBand B2 noticeably went much upgrading—from its new design changes with gold and leather version available as an option to its ability to sync with Jawbone Up with improved SmartCoaching feature. This ability works in either Android phone or iPhone where your Jawbone Up app can be installed. The app then tracks and synchronizes your steps and sleep data just like any Jawbone Up wearable.
At this juncture, TalkBand B2 cannot track your heart rate yet or vibrate whenever it receives silent alarms or notifications. However, through the amply made O-LED matrix display, you can scroll through and check things out—something you can’t do with Jawbone Up wearable, mind you.
It still features the 6-axle accelerometer and gyroscope that actually tracks your sleeping, walking and running activities. You can also monitor your calorie burn, sleep time and step counts. If you must, you can also benefit from its exercise timer.
Huawei’s band is available in Amazon, Fry’s Electronics andGetHuawei.com at a starting price of $179. You can also wait for it in Best Buy though the date is not yet set for its launching there.
