HTC One M9s has just been released in Taiwan, reflecting the looks of its sibling, the One M9. It carries the 5.0” FHD display screen and all-metal unibody that is very much similar to its sister. However, since it is a variant, the specifications inside vary from M9 including the MediaTek Helio X10 SoC inside.
Under the hood, we expect the differences which we can summarize as a downgrade of M9. Aside from the chipset, we have the ample 2GB of RAM and the soon-to-be outdated 16GB storage. These two may be impressive but considering that we are entering 2016, consumers will be expecting improvement on par with the other mid-range sets. Anyway, if the native storage deems inadequate, you can extend it through microSD slot that can accommodate up to 2TB of SD card.
Since we’re talking about HTC here, we may like to hear about its dual camera. The rear 13MP sensor is very much like to the snapper of HTC’s E models but incorporates optical image stabilization which can be seen in the M9+ variant. It also sports sapphire crystal front which means that it is scratch resistant. Meanwhile the 4MP front is an UltraPixel snapper with f/2.0 26.8mm lens.
In terms of connectivity, M9s supports quad-band 2G/3G and the latest 4G LTE, as well as Bluetooth v4.1, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, NFC and GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS and Beidou.
M9s is available for preorder in Taiwan right now at the price of TWD 12,900 (~$390) but shipping starts on November 21. The company is yet to release its word about the availability of the handset on the worldwide market.
