This is quite a surprising year for technological advancements especially when it comes to gadgets. From having witnessed the iPhone finally revealing a water-resistant masterpiece up to iOS and Android OS having new versions, this year can be considered a high-time year for technology. And this year, a startup company by the name of iMCO had followed the trend by releasing their smartwatch, the CoWatch.
What Makes CoWatch Special?
CoWatch isn’t just your ordinary smartwatch especially if you compare it to the existing smartwatches today. Aside from the fact that it contains more impressive hardware specs, it also contains one thing that other smartwatches don’t have: Amazon’s Alexa AI. Having made its appearance on Amazon’s Echo, Dot and Tap, the Alexa AI’s main disadvantage is its lack of mobility. Even though Alexa is known to have very impressive features and functions, having it inside a Bluetooth speaker (in case of Amazon Tap) isn’t exactly what you call mobile. And now that Alexa was integrated inside CoWatch, having such a ‘futuristic’ combination is definitely a dream come true.
Specifications and Features
Having a body constructed from a combination of zirconia ceramic and stainless steel, the company ensures that the CoWatch is downright solid in build. Despite being bulky in terms of appearance, the CoWatch is actually light when already wrapped around your wrist.
Looking at the hardware side, the CoWatch has a 400 x 400 pixels resolution AMOLED display, 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, 8GB internal storage and 1GB RAM. And even though the company had refused to release details about its battery, they promised that the power source can easily provide up to 32 hours of juice even if the display setting of CoWatch is set to ‘Always On’ mode. And just like other smartwatch, the CoWatch also offers water resistance, heart rate sensor and accelerometer which are very helpful for fitness monitoring purposes.
Mainly based on Android 5.0 Lollipop, the company’s Cronologics OS is used to the smartwatch as its operating system. And just as mentioned earlier, Amazon’s Alexa AI is integrated in the smartwatch as an added feature, though the Alexa’s voice recognition here is somewhat limited. For now, you can use Alexa by tapping the corresponding icon inside the CoWatch.
Right now, iMCO’s CoWatch is available for purchase on Amazon online stores, $279 for Silver variant and $199 for the black one. It is compatible for any smartphones running Android 5.0 Lollipop or iOS 9 and later versions.
