Nowadays, most Porsche fans say that the newer cars manufactured by the company has considerably lesser quality compared to what they are doing before. That’s the reason why even though the Porsche 718 Cayman had surely made some news during its debut in the last Beijing Auto Show, most experts say that the Cayman is just a Boxster Sports Car with a fixed roof. This is somewhat depressing, due to the fact that this talk is actually underselling. The truth is, car experts should not talk about the 718 Cayman and Cayman S that way.
Under the Hood
Featuring a 2.0-liter flat-four cylinder engine, the 2017 Porsche 718 Cayman is known to run at 300 horsepower and 280 lb-ft torque. On the other hand, the 718 Cayman S has a 2.5 flat-four cylinder engine that runs in 350 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are known to have either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions, depending on the model. These engines are also known to have a rear-wheel drivetrain. Needless to say, this sports car is very good for driving, especially in snowy roads and dusty terrains. Even though these two doesn’t contain the well-known V-6 engines of the Boxsters, there’s definitely no doubt that their engines can do significantly more than what the V-6 engines can actually do in the driving scene. And along with those measurements, the company is very optimistic since, once people have tested it, there’s no doubt that they’re going to love it.
Exterior and Interior
It can be easily noticed that the 718 Cayman and 718 Cayman S had more roof. The truth is, if you’re going to look more closely, you’ll definitely see that almost all has changed in the latest 718 Cayman’s bodywork. From the considerably larger side air intakes up to its front intake, you will probably say that it’s an all-new design. Taking a peek inside, you will see that the dashboard had new air vents installed along with the company’s latest Infotainment System. Still…you can say that it’s just a Boxster with a roof. However, knowing its performance and design upgrades, the 2017 Porsche 718 Cayman is definitely a must-have.
