Lung Cancer is a kind of cancer that affects smokers and non-smokers alike. However, just like other kinds of cancers, lung cancer-causing risk factors can somehow be prevented or lessened by taking foods and nutrients that have the capability to fight these. Even if you have lung cancer or not, these are the foods that you can take in order to reduce the risks of having it:
- Apples – Flavonoids, a compound which comes abundant in apples, are known to fight cancer by reducing its risk factors. Aside from having these compounds in the entire apple, flavonoids are especially plentiful in its skin so you must not forget to eat the skins along with the apple itself.
- Garlic – Studies have shown that eating raw garlic contains the compound diallyl sulphide, which is a known cancer fighter. Those who eat raw garlic at least two or more times a week has their cancer risk lessened by at least 44 percent.
- Brocolli – Eating broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables contains glucosinates, which are known to reduce lung cancer by at least 21 – 32 percent, especially in women. If you don’t like eating broccoli, you can also replace it with cauliflower, kale, Brussels sprouts, cabbages and rutabaga.
- Fish – Aside from its role in reducing the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke, omega-3 fatty acids, which are found in fish, are also known to reduce lung cancer risk by 21 percent.
