In the category of midsize sedan, competition may be cutthroat enough to drive carmakers into constant innovation where half-way renovations are not just enough or can be treated as ‘sin.’ From this, Nissan came up of a plan to endow its 2016 Ultima a brand new look and a brand new SR model.
We’ve known about the Japanese carmaker’s struggle for the past few years when it comes to designing their products but this time, their efforts finally paid off. Both critics and car enthusiasts are taken aback by the sleek exterior and performance Ultima sports, not something to be raved about but definitely wonderfully surprising.
Nissan gave Altima a new front and rear shape that shows off much sportier look. Many even notice the deep V grille in front fascia that proudly holds the company’s emblem. There are also the new optional LED headlamps reminiscent of boomerangs, tail lights, bumper, and a trunk lid at the rear car.
Meanwhile the changes within are muted with a new center stack and cup holders sitting just beside the gearlever. The hands-down favorite Zero Gravity feature for the front seats come standard on all trim levels.
The SR trim, on the other hand, goes with athletic aura having smoked lenses, revised fog lights and daytime running lights. It also has its very own suspension setup, stiffer front and rear stabilizers and modified dampers. Most importantly, it gets the more aggressive 18-inch alloy wheels or tire package.
