You can easily spot a toddler with fever, but a knowing if your little baby has fever, that might be a little tricky. A person’s normal body temperature falls in between 36°-37°C or an equivalent of 96.8° – 98.6°F. When it goes higher than the indicated scale, then your baby has fever and you need to do the necessary measures to cool down his temperature.
Keep these things or materials with you.
- Cloth or towel
- Bath tub
- Water
- Thermometer
- Comfortable clothes
- Basin
- Baby’s medication
Cool down your baby’s temperature
- Make your baby wear light and comfortable clothes.
- Give your baby enough fluids to keep him or her hydrated. While water is best hydrant, you can also let your baby drink natural juices from squeezed fruits like oranges.
- Follow the right measure of prescription of your baby’s medication. Overdosing may affect your child’s liver and overall health.
- Turn on the fan or give a cool bath for your baby.
- Use a blanket made of light material to cover your baby.
Tips and Warnings
- If your baby has temperature of 39-40°C (or 102.2 -104°F) then he or she needs to be attended by a physician. Bring your baby to the hospital and let the professionals examine him or her.
- Bring your baby to the hospital if his (or her) fever doesn’t cool down within 48 hours.
- Don’t feed your child with aspirin as this can make him (or her) susceptible to Reye’s syndrome or other serious illnesses such as chicken pox or influenza.
