During the Geneva Auto Show for this year, Volvo had displayed its latest crossover, the 2018 Volvo XC60. Most of you must have thought that it’s just another standard model in their crossover series. But the truth is, the newest crossover from the company radiates with style.
Introduced by Thomas Ingenlath, Volvo’s top designer, the 2018 XC60 is said to be stylish and cool in its actual appearance. Having the same style and formula with the crossovers that were released since two years ago, the 2018 XC60 also displays the so-called Ingenlath Revolutionary design. The said design aims to show that even bulky cars can be stylish without compromising its safety features. In addition to that, the Scalable Product Architecture platform makes it possible for the crossover to provide the necessary car features without the added weight. Needless to say, its overall performance, including the startup and acceleration delay is also lessened.
It is also revealed by the experts that the XC60 will offer two different turbocharged and one supercharged versions of the installed engine under its hood. The engines will have an all-wheel drivetrain and an eight-speed automatic transmission, though it is expected that that front-wheel drivetrain will also become available at a later date. The engine power and torque is still being withheld by the company and will be announced during the XC60’s official release in the crossover market. The company, however, revealed that the XC60’s speed won’t be comparable enough to other crossovers, though they verified that the crossover will be handled by its driver in the most confident way. Needless to say, the crossover doesn’t aim to impress its potential buyers by its engine speed alone.
Looking on the crossover’s other features, car experts who had seen the XC60 firsthand was very impressed by its so-called ‘standard safety’ features, features that are only available as an optional upgrade to other crossovers manufactured by other companies. XC60 includes the City Safety feature, which is now enhanced with self-steering capability. The feature allows the crossover to scan the road for pedestrians, animals, cyclists and oncoming traffic in order to avoid collisions. It can automatically sound the alarms, applies brakes or guide the steering system even without user intervention. A pilot assist feature is also available as an option.
Because of these things, the company is very optimistic that the crossover will definitely gather everyone’s attention upon its worldwide release.
