While there is an apparent victory at President-elect Donald J. Trump’s group, mourning has never been greater for the rest of the United States. With his vulgar, forceful albeit incoherent ramblings during his campaigns, we can’t help but to think if this America’s new standard in choosing her president, commander-in-chief… and leader? And what future lies ahead for everybody to behold?
In his victory speech, Mr. Trump promised to put America’s interests first but deal fairly with the everyone else regardless of status and nation. On the first place, can “equality” really exist in the hands of a racist, sexist and narcissistic leader? The prevailing fear and uncertainty coming from the inside and outside the borders of the United states shows otherwise.
Some immigrants as well as the temporary visa holders are the first ones to show apprehensions regarding this matter as the President-elect has been vocal about drastically reforming the U.S. immigration policies. Even other countries openly expressed their uncertainties regarding his election as the 45th U.S. President, even taking time to remind him of the values shared by the international community.
So, how can then the new president of America assuage the fears and anger of the many who has spoken against him? How will it be for America and the rest of the world? Will this be America’s epic end? While only time and Mr. Trump can answer these, we certainly hope that he works for the best of the interest.
