About two days ago, the peaceful neighborhood of Chelsea, New York City was shaken by a bomb explosion. Found to be a pressure cooker bomb, people are now relating the explosion to what had occurred during the Boston Marathon Bombing, which occurred three years ago. And right now, authorities are very busy searching for clues that will point out to the identity of the bomber.
The explosion had left at least twenty-nine people injured. On the same day, an explosion had also occurred during a US Marine Corps Charity Run in New Jersey which had left the authorities thinking that the attacks are somewhat related. If proven true, this will confirm their suspicion of an organized terrorist attack.
Just a few blocks away from the blast site, police authorities have found a pressure cooker containing lots of wiring that connect to an improvised detonator, which is found to be a cellphone. The explosive device was found inside a duffel bag. CCTV footages on the 23rd Street have shown that a man was seen dragging the duffel bag containing the device. About ten minutes later, the same man was also seen on the 27th street, which is exactly thirty minutes before the blast occurred. In that video, the police had seen the man leaving the duffel bag on the sidewalk. What puzzles them, however, is the reason why the man had deliberately left the explosive device on the location. As of now, the explosive device was brought inside NYPD Bomb Squad Facility in the Bronx. The device will be examined forensically once transported on the FBI Laboratory in Quantico, Virginia.
Compared to the busy Wall Street, Chelsea is rather quiet if not peaceful location, the fact that actually made the explosion seem more terrifying. People also claim that the noise of the explosion was heard clearly by those who live on Hoboken, New Jersey, which is known to be on the other side of Hudson River.
Right now, New York City Governor Andrew Cuomo had ordered an additional one thousand NYPD Officers to patrol airports, bus terminals and subway stations as an added safety measure. The increased police visibility, he said was to make sure that the New Yorkers will be doing their jobs safely especially during Monday morning. Doing such had made him receive lots of positive public and media response.
