While RAM has been denying that their 2015 model of 1500 Rebel means no competition, the full-sized pickup truck’s appearance seems to bear the irony of its maker’s disclaimer. But we should always leave a space for the benefit of the doubt, shouldn’t we?
Current 1500 Rebel
The 2015 RAM 1500 Rebel is equipped with complete off-road package that executes practical levels of off-highway clearance, style and traction without giving up on the essential of a true full-sized pickup—towing capability. Despite not being crafted (at least internally) in the likes of Ford Raptor that sports as a desert runner, it certainly gives the most important components for meaningful off-highway clearance and performance.
The rebel offers pretty much the same off-road package as Toyota Tundra’s TRD but distinguishes itself with 33-inch tires, air suspension, 1-inch lift and hoisted front bodywork that speaks well with the pickup’s approach angle.
What’s Inside
RAM based Rebel’s interior on Ram Big horn which simply means that it exudes in comfort and rugged charm. They smartly chose elegantly aggressive colors of black and red motif and enhanced the instrument panel hood and leather steering wrap with scarlet stitches.
The instrument cluster observes the same black and red motif with highlights of red anodized aluminum bezels as opposed to the traditional and oh-so-boring chrome. It is also the same with the air-conditioning vents, door panels, cup and smartphone holders.
Fabric seats are upholstered with grained vinyl, pressed with the tread pattern of Toyo Open Country tires. Rebel’s headliner has been reverted to black and there is also the presence of heavily ribbed all-weather rubber floor mats.
